Scarmaker: Hey Nicholas! Thanks for doing the AskThePRO :) Can you explain why the hell did you decide to play such a tournament as the $10k WCOOP high roller? That must have been loaded with beasts!
January 12, 2014 17:40
Hey no problem my pleasure! I will start this now sorry for the delay... I am driven by competition and how tough it is actually appealed to me on a competition level. A few of the people in the lobby were mega fishes and some of the regs made too many mistakes so I think there was actually decent value in it as well.

DariusDruski: Hi, Nicholas. When you started to play poker and is it now your main source of income? :)
January 12, 2014 19:53
Hey darius :) ... I started playing poker around 2003 with my friends on the weekends. We would just play like a 10$ tournament or something, and there would be anywhere from 10-20 of us. I have been playing professionally since 2010, and I am not entering my 5th year doing it professionally and yes it is my main source of income.

Scarmaker: Also, how was the experience of going pretty deep into the WSOP Main Event? Was it really THAT special?
January 13, 2014 02:26
If we are talking about the notoriety that comes with going deep in the WSOP main, then it is THAT special! I binked the sunday million right before I came out to vegas and more or less no1 cared, I make it ITM of the WSOP event and my cell phone is blowing up non stop with people I haven't heard from in a long time wishing me GL etc. Its the one tournament a year where you have such a wide audience of people who watch it, that when you go deep in it people just tend to care a lot more, even if you only cash for 3.7 buyins! Also the feeling in the room while your playing is unique, everyone is on edge and emotions run really high... You see this live sometimes with a couple tables left in a tournament, but to see like 30+ tables of people being that way was kind of cool.

masuronike: Are you going to grind more this year (both sngs and mtts) or you are just going to ship 1-2 big mtts and enjoy rest? :) Thx for bringing us @yugiohpro ! I hope you both will be active more here as we need some MTT beasts like you
January 13, 2014 09:50
Haha, yes I will be grinding more. I will be going for SNE this year so expect to see me at more of your 6m hyper games! I see my MTT volume being about the same as last year, but my SNG volume will be much higher.

razvanel1987: Hi Nicholas, what would you choose between WSOP final table and EPT final table and why? Can u tell me who are the best tournaments players online and live of the moment from your perspective? Thank you
January 14, 2014 17:04
I would choose the WSOP final table for a obvious reason, they tend to have more money then EPTS. I would also rather have a bracelet than a EPT trophy. I don't have enough experience live to give you a good answer on the best live pros, but its hard to argue against negreanu's results so I would think he would have to be up there. As for online, these guys all play very well and have my kudos, which is something I dont say often about MTT regs. Purecash25 DarrenElias Str8$$$Homey Moorman Yugiohpro

bigstealer: Do you prefer coolering or sucking out on me? Please give reasoning for your answer. Regards, bigsqueeler
January 14, 2014 17:10
I enjoy both the same, no preference on which as long as your chips come to me !

MillerSTGT: You come home and find Liv Boeree in lingerie grinding MTT´s with your account. What would you do?
January 14, 2014 17:28
I would go rail her

DariusDruski: Do you play poker just for money? And who is (was) your teacher or inspirer?
January 14, 2014 20:05
Yeah mainly just for money. It is a job at the end of the day, it happens to be a job I enjoy a lot, but it is still a job. In terms of poker I learned the most just by moving in with my roommate bigbluffzinc... just seeing his lifestyle and his approach to poker taught me a lot in terms of what I needed to do to get better. If I didn't move in with him, I don't think I would be as good as I am today and I feel fortunate with the situation.

mysho: Hey Nicholas ;-) I believe every poker player has some goals which he would like to achieve during the year. What are yours for this year ? thanks and GL!
January 14, 2014 20:58
Hey! My main goal this year is reaching SNE... I am from the USA and I will be spending around 5-6 months in the USA this year so doing it in 6 months is going to be tough. In terms of SNG profit I would like to beat the games for at least 50k pre rakeback, and for MTTS I don't really set goals because there is too much variance in them.

Scarmaker: Hey there once again! :) How big was 2013 for you? Even tho its obvious you have been quite a successful grinder before that too, those bings seem life changing :)
January 15, 2014 01:21
Yeah the money is nice, but it isn't really life changing. I am just handling my business the same way I always have, and my spending habits if anything have gone down since winning a lot of money.

abadon85: It has been a long time coming since you released your first single on youtube. When can die hard fans of your music expect your album to come out? I also heard that your pick up line in clubs is that you own the Worlds largest collection of air guitars. Would you mind elaborating on how in your own words "B*tches be dr*pping" over that?

masuronike: How your average day looks like and what do you do when you don't play poker.
January 15, 2014 06:52
Well my average day in America is going to be a lot different than my average day in Vancouver. I will assume you want to know my Vancouver schedule. Wake up, get a coffee, eat, then start grinding which lasts just about all day with small breaks inbetween sessions. Not much of a balance with my lifestyle up in Vancouver, I make it out of the house once every couple weeks for a dinner or something, but thats about it. I tend to treat Vancouver as a working spot, and I tend to spend the time back in Pittsburgh with my family and friends to do the other stuff. I play a lot of golf during the summer, I play a lot of ping pong in Vancouver, then theres the standard stuff like hanging out with friends, going to dinners, drinking partying etc.

Scarmaker: What are the biggest leaks of average regs in MTT and in SNGs you think you have made the most money off?
January 15, 2014 10:52
They don't defend there BB well enough, and they raise too wide from LP... those two mistakes tend to be very common among regs and both can be very big mistakes.

cofacosmin: Hi Nicholas! Haw do you play? You choose the games before of the day or you play a game that you see in chat box?
January 15, 2014 15:35
Hi! I am not sure what you mean but I normally know the games I am going to play before the day starts.

Andre: Hi Nicholas, and congrats on a sick 2013! Have some interesting questions for you. 1. Is poker your dream job? For how long do you think you'll continue to play poker, and where do you see yourself in 10 years. 2. Do you have any other passions/interests other than poker? 3. Also can you give us an update on the challenge between you and Bushapa? Good luck in 2014! Play good and run even better.
January 15, 2014 18:23
1 - No it is not my dream job, but Its a pretty good one and I am happy with it. I think poker will be a part of my life till I am dead, I dont see it being this important to my life, or my main income in the future, but in some way I will always play a little probably. I am not sure where I see myself in 10 years, but probably married with a kid or two, with my main income coming from something other than poker, what exactly that source of income is I am unsure about as of now.
 photo Frenzuh January 15, 2014 22:16
Forgot to answer your other questions, sorry about that... But the challenge with buschapa got postponed due to him needing to put time in to get SNE in december... I am currently in the states and was just at PCA, I wont be back in Vancouver until early feb, and we plan on resuming the challenge at that time, right now he is up 51-49 on the first 100 games. Poker is more or less my life, the only hobby/interests I have that I do very regularly is golf, and next winter season I am going to take snowboarding a lot more serious, I suck at it right now though :P

January 15, 2014 19:58
I would say the two best players in the hypers at the moment would probably be cejakas and bigbluffzinc, and if you count sng sattys then jorj is the best :)
 photo Frenzuh January 15, 2014 22:19
I play from 6-12 tables mainly, on sundays with MTTS I get up to 15-16 at times... I use a mouse, I am on my laptop in a airport so can not right now, and I sleep about 7-8 hours a night

MF21: Hey Nicholas, I would like to know how do you work on your game. What works best for you? And what would you recommend to beginner players so they can improve as fast as possible and move to higher limits. TY and GL
January 15, 2014 21:49
I work on my game from studying and playing all day everyday. You need to make sure you study. Most people just don't do it but if you want to get good you need to study a couple hours a day. I work on my game with a few programs, mainly ICMIZER and flopzilla, but I also work on my game by watching videos, mainly on CR and RIO, and from time to time I purchase coaching from somebody to see if I can pick something up since so many people approach poker differently.

January 15, 2014 22:06
I just started from making enough money to support my bills and expenses and then it just branched out from there. Yes poker is a job, and when I have that profit it feels ok I guess
