I think Im ready to hang up the online poker scene for awhile. Since Black Friday IMO the bankroll requirements to play properly have just gone through the roof. Years ago I could put $150 on Stars, Tilt or Party and start out at $2-$10 MTTs and play for months making steady withdrawals and playing occasional bigger buyins . Today with the compressed player pools you have much higher variance for a number of reasons. I sit at a $10 Mtt and have ranked pocketfives players at virtually every table I sit. I can go thru 15 buy-ins without even a min-cash with no problem at all. The late registrations Ive always felt promotes this but I understand its the only way to get Guaranteed tournys that are big enough to be attractive. I just find the whole process to be -Ev unless you can keep maybe 200 buy-ins on the site. 3 - 5 hours of late registration to me equals 2-5 hours of rebuys and only the players with the larger bankrolls can afford to play them properly. Even 2 or 3 years ago I could still enter these tournys with 1 buy-in and show a small profit over time. Today it just doesnt happen anymore. What it amounts to is I feel today you need a minimum $2000 bankroll to play $5-$10 Mtts.......This is to much variance for me PERSONALLY. Am I unrealistic about the bankroll requirements?? I realize this doesnt to apply to everyone but in my particular situation (unable to consistently deposit that amount of money regularly) I feel like the games are -Ev and its time to hang them up until 1- the online situation for U.s. players improve or 2- my financial situation improves (not likely). Over the last 2 yrs or so I have tried various ways of playing to overcome these handicaps but none seem to work for more than a short time. My conclusion is its time to quit for some period of time. I would love to hear any opposite views or suggestions on ways to overcome these short comings.
Virtually dead broke player from Louisiana. Banned from Facebook, to poor to play over $10 MTT's online.
After my 300 MTT downswing at ACR I just couldnt take it anymore. I was expecting to lose and the prophecy was self fullfilling. So I see I had like 8 bucks on Bovada and made a sportsbet with all of it, hit that bet then another and suddenly Im up to 30 bucks. Played Mtts over the weekend and the results were good. 2 2nds a 3rd and an 8th place thrown in for good measure. Small tournys so Im still slightly below $500 but a bankroll none the less. Last night I play a satty into the 5000 G Omaha HiLo and win that. Then play the 10,000 Guarantee ..Chip leader for a good while after getting AA with action 3 times in like 2 levels. Finished 15th so not a bad start to this week with a ticket to the O8b still left. So my question is are we sure there is no such thing as a DoomSwitch?? I go from a full blown downswing to a full blown lucky streak with just the switch of sites. I know Bovada is easier with more avg to bad players than ACR but still...completely opposite results. Soon Ill be whining about Bovada and we'll see what happens when I go back to ACR but for now Ill take the run good.....God knows I need a withdrawal....lol
Just another "Lucky" day. Had a few things going on Saturday so I decide Ill just play Jackpot sng's all day. In those paying 2-1 I go 14-1.. Just couldnt lose, won virtually every flip. In those paying 4-1.... 0-3 6-1....1-3 8-1...0-2 Then to top off yet another totally depressing day I leave for maybe 45 mins, come back and a $5000 spin was hit. Did I say "top off"....then this must be icing on the cake.. Peeked at my sharkscope for some reason Ill never comprehend ...
Finally banned from Facebook after 5 years. Nakesha "mybootysobig" Smith-Willams-Anderson the 3rd is ok with facebook but using your online poker name is not.... O Well Today Dec12th there are at least 4 live tournies running within 4 hours of me. Im playing ZERO for various reasons....most all related to being broke. Ive been playing online since 1998 and have never won a fricking thing. Nothing , Zip, Nada......The doughnut. So depressed. Followed the only cute pic I saw on here and immediately got to read about them being on vacation in South America somewhere......Insert barrel in mouth and squeeze is my current mood status.
