Playing the VIP freeroll with a hangover just got sooooo bored so I started jamming every hand, tripled up QJ > TT & QQ AND NOW I HAVE EFFING $600 IN EQUITY SITTING ON THE TABLE SO I HAVE TO PROPERLY GRIND THE THING GOD DAMMIT.
I didn't think that the game that shall not be mentioned would be that big of a deal. I didn't think it would hurt fish traffic at $60s+ too much (wrong). This morning I played more 6 reg games at the $60s than I ever have. Some are of course complaining and rightly so because it's a shitty situation where everyone loses. The problem is all 6 of us in that game are on a time crunch to reach VPP goals and I don't think anyone is going to hit SNE 4 tabling "soft" 1-2 fish $60s. So, us regs are stuck with the choice of quit SNE chase (not happening) or play these horrible games with a negative edge because of the top heavy rewards system. Part of the reason I wasn't too worried about these unmentionable games is because if it really did kill hypers then there are always other formats to switch to, but the horrible truth is that they are killing the other games. Apparently HU hyper traffic has gone downhill, and I heard reports that cash game traffic is down 9%. Awful for everyone. Pokerstars has always said they don't want to hurt the liquidity of current games, but they have struck gold with these spin and gos and they have been so popular that I don't think they give a flying fuck about the liquidity of anything, just making more money. Fair enough, they are a business and they need to do that, but all of us are getting badly screwed over and there doesn't seem to be much we can do about it. The only real hope for things to ever improve is for the US to return to us which appears to be a real possibility, or the impossible hope of a rake reduction. Rake reduction will never happen but a guy can dream.
