PokerStars' 100B Hand Awards $1,000,000
Online poker leader PokerStars has been running their “Road to 100 billion” promotion for weeks now, awarding bonus prizes to players dealt into every millionth hand. The winner of each hand wins more, and players who have earned a lot of VPPs in the 50 previous hands see their bonuses increased, as well. Last night, the 100 billionth hand was dealt, awarding $1,000,000 in bonus prizes to lucky participants.
The hand played out at around 8:30 PM GMT yesterday evening, and happened at $.02/$.05 6-max NL table Euryalos XI. The table was paused before the action started, and a message was displayed to all players logged in at the time, allowing spectators a chance to open up the table and view the action. When the action was resumed, everyone went all in preflop. Certainly that is the best strategy for a milestone hand, as the bonus amount to be won by the winner of the hand is so large that it is incorrect to fold at any point.
The players showed their cards and a board was dealt out: A 2 J 9 T
The lucky winner was microulis69, whose J5 for second pair was good enough to win the pot and an extra prize of $103,800. The other players at the table were awarded as follows:
The remainder of the $1,000,000 prize pool ($830,790.34) was divided up among all players playing at the same stakes and game at the time that this 100 billion Mega Milestone hand was hit. Over 9,000 players were paid out an average of $84.72 each.
